Staff Sergeant T M Clarke  Royal Signals

PictureGeneral Service Medasl 'Canal Zone'. Efficincy Medal 'T&AVR'.
The Man   Little detail is known about T M Clarke except that he joined the Royal Artillery, possibly as a National Serviceman with service number 22793514.

He saw service during the Canal Zone incident in Egypt between 1952 and 1956 being awarded his General Service Medal with ‘Canal Zone’ clasp some 50 years later in 2003.

He later joined the Territorial Army in about 1960, enlisting into the Royal Signals with the same service number and rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant.  He was awarded his Efficiency Medal ‘T&AVR’ in Army Medal List 97 of 31st December 1972 by which time he had transferred to the Parachute Regiment.

The Story   The medals awarded to T M Clarke were acquired from Stephen Wheeler Medals in November 2025, having been seen on his website, followed by the Britannia Medal Fair in London, after which a decision was made to buy them.

They were of interest because of the combination and the more unusual Canal Zone clasp, complimenting another group in the collection with the same general Service Medal and Efficiency Medal ‘Territorial’ to David John ROGERSON.
