Mrs Elizabeth Pimblett  Womens Voluntary Service

The Story   Elizabeth Atkinson (Betty) was born on Friday 27th July 1923 in Prescot Lancashire, daughter of Joseph a Glass Bottle Blower and Esther nee Roberts and seemingly an only child.
 
By 1939 Betty was living with her parents at 3 St Andrews Grove, St Helens and working as Warehouse Grinder, Glass Bottle Making, probably with her father.   Betty served in the Women’s Voluntary Service, Civil Defence and was awarded her Long Service Medal following 15 years’ service.
 
During the third quarter of 1948 aged 24 she married Norman Pimblett in St Luke’s Church, St Helens and they had no children.
 
Betty and Norman lived at Marshalls Cross Road in in St Helens and Norman passed away on 7th September 2001. He was buried with Betty’s parents at St Helens Cemetery and Crematorium, Merseyside in section 64 Plot 68.
 
Betty lived another seven years and lived 65 Grafton Street, she passed away suddenly, but peacefully on 11th September 2008 at Whiston Hospital aged 85.  Her funeral was held at Peasley Cross United Reform Church on Thursday 18th September at 1030h followed by committal at St Helens Cemetery where she was buried alongside Norman and her parents.
