Bombardier Harold J V Collins Royal Artillery & Special Constabulary
The Man Little detail is known about Harold V J Collins except that he was a Special Constable during the late 1920s and early 30s and awarded the Special Constabulary Faithful service Medal. He also enlisted into the pre-war Territorial Army, Royal Artillery as a Bombardier with service number 40449. Following the outbreak of World War II Harold served ‘at home’ and was awarded the Defence & War Medal 1939-45 and the Efficiency Medal ‘Territorial’ with a further long service clasp. He may have lived in the Kent area.
The Story The group of medals awarded to Harold V J Collins were seen on e-Bay during March 2014 and of interest because of the double long service award and clasp on the Efficiency Medal, representing pre World War II Territorial service. No detail could be found on Ancestry.com due to the high number of Harold Collins, despite his three initials.
