Driver Harold Patrick Donlon Royal Signals and Dorset Fire Service
The Man Harold Patrick Donlon was born on Friday 12th September 1919 in Glossop, Derbyshire, son of James a Print Worker and May nee Hall.
Harold enlisted into the Territorial Army Royal Signals with service number 2587682 and at the outbreak of World War II on 3rd September 1939, aged 20 was embodied and called up. He saw service in North Africa and awarded the 1939-45 Star, Africa Star, Defence Medal, War Medal 1939-45 and the Efficiency Medal ‘Territorial’, the latter notified in Army Order 157 of 1949.
During the first quarter of 1947 Harold married Hilda Moss in Glossop and they had three children, Barry James born in 1947–2013, Michael 1951 and Sandra J 1960.
The family moved to Dorset and Harold joined the Fire Brigade rising to Sub-Officer, in charge of a small one pump fire station or watch in a larger station. He latterly worked for British Aerospace Aircraft Group at Hurn Airport in the Fire and Security Department and at some time awarded the Fire Brigade Long Service and Good Conduct Medal.
Harold passed away in June 1987 aged 67 in Bournemouth.

The Story The medal group awarded to Harold Patrick Donlon were acquired from Stephen Wheeler Medals on 27th May 2022 and purchased immediately, having missed a similar group the day before and being a double long service combination with a photograph of the recipient.
