The Story The medals pair awarded to Gordon Henry Gammon were acquired from e-Bat on 9th June 2023 as a buy it now offer. They were of interest because of the simplicity of the pair, plus the excellent photograph of the recipient wearing the two medal ribbons.
The slightly unusual name, together with an approximate birth year of 1945 less 18 = 1927, found a direct match on Ancestry.UK which with the usual cross reference process enabled a brief biography to be pieced together. A photograph of Gordon and his wife’s headstone was also found, adding a nice finishing touch the story.
