  George Goodfellow  Imperial Service

PictureGeorge GOODFELLOW
The Man   George Goodfellow was born about 1905, most likely in Scotland.

He joined the Post Office in about 1935 and may well have seen service during World War II.

He retired as a Postman in Edinburgh in 1960 and awarded the Imperial Service Medal in the London Gazette of 25th October 1960.

The Story   The Imperial Service Medal awarded to George Goodfellow was acquired from E-Bay on 9th April 2021 following an offer made.  It was of interest because of the newspaper cutting showing a clear picture of George receiving the medal.

The London Gazette confirmed George’s award in October 1960 as a Postman in Edinburgh.  However, despite a search of Ancestry.UK and Scotland’s people, no further detail could be found as there were several matches with an approximate birth year of 1905.
