Staff Sergeant D I Hill  Royal Army Pay Corps

PictureEfficiency Medal 'Territorial'. Efficiency Medal 'T&AVR' and clasp.
The Man   D I Hill was born circa 1935 and joined the Territorial Army, Royal Army Pay Corps in around 1953 aged 18 with service number 22193425.

He was promoted to Staff Sergeant and in Army Orders of 1965 awarded the Efficiency Medal ‘Territorial’ followed by the first clasp appearing in Army Orders 95 of 1972.  Once a further six years of service was completed, he returned his clasp in exchange for the Efficiency Medal ‘T&AVR’, following the changes made in 1967, this appearing in Army Order 120 of 1979 still as Staff Sergeant.

He was awarded a further clasp in about 1983 representing a further six years – 30 in total.

No further detail is know about D I Hill.

The Story   The pair of medals awarded to D I Hill were acquired from E-Bay on 31st August 2022 and of interest because of the double long service awards of the Efficiency Medals ‘Territorial’ and ‘T&AVR’.  Whilst not the first such combination in this collection, they are first of the simple pair with a single clasp to the EM (T&AVR).

Nothing could be found on Ancestry.UK sadly, thus D I Hill remains unknown.
