The Man Allan Clifford Howlett was born on 2nd June 1922 in Ararat, a city in south-west Victoria, Australia. On 10th May 1943 aged 20 at Footscray, Melbourne, Victoria, Allan enlisted into the Royal Australian Air Force as a Private with service number 129483. His next of kin was given as Horace Howlett. He served throughout World War II in Australia and was discharged on 9th April 1946 at No 4 Maintenance Group Headquarters.
The Story The medals awarded to A C Howlett were acquired as a Christmas present in 1994. Sadly no information could be found on the recipient, nevertheless an interesting Australian award within this collection. On 1st September 2020, 26 years after their acquisition, an e mail was received via this web site from Angus Kirk, who very kindly provided some additional information allowing Allan Charles Howlett’s biography to be expanded. At least he will now be remembered by his full name and additional service details.
