The Story The group of medals awarded to James Mahoney were first seen in London on the same day as Lady Thatcher’s funeral! They were of interest because of the documentation confirming the award of the first and second clasp to the Efficiency Medal, which is unusual to see. There was also quite a detailed Soldiers Service & Pay Book, giving sufficient detail to allow the brief biography to be compiled. They were called to mind again following a further visit to London on Friday 17th May 2013, and were still available. On this occasion they were acquired and now form an interesting addition to the collection. Sadly for some reason, despite quite specific detail in the pay book, nothing much has been located on ancestry.com.
