Captain Anthony George Martin Army Cadet Force and Fire Service
The Man Anthony George Martin was born in about 1930.
He joined the Fire Brigade and was commissioned Second Lieutenant in the Wiltshire Army Cadet Force on 8th June 1968, most likely having served as a Senior Non Commissioned Officer beforehand. He was promoted Lieutenant on 8th June 1970 and awarded the Cadet Forces Medal in the London Gazette of 26 February 1974, followed by a clasp as a Acting Captain in the London Gazette of 26 January 1982. He retired on 31st December 1985 and granted the honorary rank of Captain. He was also awarded the Fire Brigade Long Service Medal as a Firefighter. The Story The medal pair awarded to Anthony George Martin were acquired from the Dix Noonan Webb auction on Wednesday 23rd February 2022. They were of interest because of the unusual double long service combination. |
