Special Constable Henry E Nixon  Special Constabulary

PictureDefence Medal. Special Constabulary long Service Medal clasps 'Long Service 1941, 1943, 1955, 1965'.
The Man   The only details known about Henry E Nixon are that he joined the Special Constabulary during the 1920s and was awarded his Special Constabulary Long Service Medal some time before 1936.  He served during the War and was awarded further Long Service clasps dated 1941 and 1943. He was also awarded the Defence Medal.

Henry remained in the Special Constabulary after the war qualifying for further long service clasps in 1955 and 1965.

The Story   The medals awarded to Henry Nixon were acquired from E-Bay on 26th January 2024.  They were of interest because of the four clasped Special Constabulary Medal, which appeared genuine as it was mounted together with the Defence Medal and the clasps sewn onto the ribbon with matching old cotton.

However, there were so many Henry Nixons on Ancestry.UK and none of those remotely matching showed him as a SC in the 1939 Register.  Despite several attempts at identification including the newspaper archives, nothing definitive could be found.

Sadly they remain a group with little background detail, but fitting within the sub-theme of multi clasped SCLS medals within this collection.

Henry E NIXON is one of five in this collection with the scarce four clasped Special Constabulary Medal
