Warrant Officer Class 1 E Robinson Royal Engineers
The Man The only information known about E Robinson are that he enlisted into the Royal Engineers Territorial Army with service number 2079551 during World War II and saw service in Burma, followed after the war by Malaya. It appears he is ineligible for the Defence Medal either not meeting the qualifying time period or serving in areas where qualifying regulations did not apply.
The Story The group of medals awarded to E Robinson were acquired from E-Bay on 29th December 2015 and of interest purely because of the Efficiency Medal together with the named General Service Medal indicating continued Territorial service after World War II. It was also interesting that no Defence Medal was contained within the group, and as the Efficiency Medal is a later George VI type issue, no Indae Imp legend, it is highly likely that the recipient did not qualify for the medal as he would not have met the time qualifying period, enlisting into the service later in the war, thus remaining in the TA post war and or transferring to the regulars and seeing service in Malaya. Due to the large number of E Robinsons on Ancestry.UK it has not been possible to establish any additional detail.
This group of medals is one I have not been able to find any detail on. They are in effect 'work in progress' as one day something additional may well be uncovered. Please feel free to contact me should you know of, or have any information on this man.
