Captain Richard Vernon Storey Army Cadet Force and Combined Cadet Force
The Man Richard Vernon Storey was born in Lancaster during March 1945, taking his middle name from his mother’s maiden name.
Little detail is known about Richard, apart from the fact he married Hilary Jean Lambert during the final quarter of 1975 aged 30, they had one son David Richard, born in 1975, he sadly passing away on 8th September 2007 aged just 32.
By the time of David’s death Richard and Hilary had divorced and he remarried to Ena M Swinnerton in Garstang during the second quarter of 1982.
On 4th December 1989 aged 44 Richard was Commissioned as 2nd Lieutenant into the Lancashire Army Cadet Force with service number 534808 and promoted to Lieutenant on 4th December 1991.
On 17th May 2000 Richard transferred to Royal Grammar School, Lancaster Contingent Combined Cadet Force and later promoted to Captain. He awarded his Cadet Forces Medal in the London Gazette 16th July 2002 and the same year awarded the Golden Jubilee Medal 2002.
Richard and Ena lived during the mid-2000s at, 2 The Cottages, Glencroft, Hazelhurst Drive Garstang and he was director of several companies in the area, Storeys of Hambleton, Saltcote Estates Ltd, TVR Sports Cars Ltd, Storey’s of Lancaster and Storeys (Border Reivers) Classic Car Company Ltd.
In 2007 Richard qualified for the first clasp to his Cadet Forces Medal and on 14th February 2009 aged 55 retired from the CCF.

The Story The medal pair awarded to Richard Vernon Storey were acquired from e-Bay on 20th February 2023. They were of interest purely because of their simplicity as a pair!
Research was made slightly easier by the fact the Golden Jubilee Medal box had Richard’s service number on the base.
