Constable William E Thompson  Special Constabulary

Picture
Defence Medal. Special Constabulary Long Service Medal 'Long Service 1946'.
The Man   William E Thompson served in the Special Constabulary joining before the start of World War II.  He served throughout the war completing his required duties and was awarded the Special Constabulary Long Service Medal, a long service bar dated 1946 and the Defence Medal.  No further details are known.

This group is one I have only been able to find a minimal amount of detail on.  It is in effect 'work in progress' as one day something additional may well be uncovered.  Please feel free to contact me should you know of, or have any information on this man.

The Story   The single Special Constabulary Long Service Medal awarded to William Thompson was purchased from John Richardson in Coventry on 1st June 1978 for the sum of £3.50.  When the length of service William would have seen in the Special Constabulary during World War II is calculated using the 1946 long service clasp as a starting point, working backwards and war service counting treble, he was also entitled to the Defence Medal.  No further detail has been revealed as there are a large number of people on Ancestry.UK with the same name.

Medal Details:
