Sergeant Roy Edward Townsend  BEM   Wiltshire, Wessex Regiments & Army Cadet Force

Picture
British Empire Medal (civil). Efficiency Medal 'Territorial'. Efficiency Medal 'T&AVR'. Cadet Forces Medal.
The Man   Roy Edward Townsend served in the Territorial Army in both the Wiltshire and the Wessex Regiments with service number 22612300 at the rank of Sergeant.  He later joined the Army Cadet Force as a Sergeant.  He was awarded the British Empire Medal (civil) in the London Gazette dated 16th June 1990 as a Motorway Foreman, Wiltshire County Council.

The Story   The highly desirable group of medals awarded to Roy Edward Townsend were acquired from E-Bay on e-bay in about August 2013, and of interest because of the treble long service group showing service in the Territorial Army and Army Cadet Force.  It was also interesting to note he was awarded the British Empire Medal in his civilian capacity working for Wiltshire County Council.  Apart from the London Gazette entry for the BEM no other detail has to date been uncovered.

This group of medals is one I have only been able to find a minimal amount of detail on.  Please feel free to contact me should you know of, or have any information on this man.
