Warrant Officer Class II G Ward Royal Artillery & Royal Engineers
General Service Medal 'Malaya'. Efficiency Medal 'T&AVR' & Two Clasps.
The Man Very little detail is known about G Ward, except that he enlisted into the Royal Artillery as a Gunner with service number 23239126. He served in the Malayan Emergency and was awarded the General Service Medal with clasp ‘Malaya’. He later transferred to the Royal Engineers in the Territorial Army and promoted to Warrant Officer Class II. He was awarded the Efficiency Medal ‘T&AVR’, and two additional clasps representing 24 years volunteer service.
The Story The pair of medals awarded to G Ward were acquired in January 2014. They were of interest because of the Efficiency Medal and confirmation of two extra clasps. No additional detail has been found about G Ward, but his medal group is very similar to that awarded to Private J Louis who is also in this collection.
This group of medals is one I have not been able to find any detail on. They are in effect 'work in progress' as one day something additional may well be uncovered. Please feel free to contact me should you know of, or have any information on this man.
