Young But Long Service
William Young Special Constabulary
Defence Medal, Special Constabulary Faithful Service Medal 'Long Service 1941'.
The Man The only information known about William Young are that he served in the Special Constabulary before and during World War II, being awarded the Defence Medal and Special Constabulary Faithful Service Medal with long service bar 1941.
The Story This pair of medals were of interest because of the unusual combination of the Defence Medal and Special Constabulary Medal with George V bust rather than the more usual George VI; the 1941 bar confirming WWII service. As there are so many William Young’s on Ancestry.com it has not been possible to establish any further detail.
This group of medals is one I have only been able to find a minimal amount of detail on. They are in effect 'work in progress' as one day something additional may well be uncovered. Please feel free to contact me should you know of, or have any information on this man.
