Chief Technician John Bailey  Royal Air Force

The Man   John Bailey enlisted into the Royal Air Force as a boy entrant after 1954 with service number P1931339.  He saw extensive service in the RAF serving in Borneo, South Arabia and Northern Ireland, being awarded the Campaign Service Medal as an SAC with the three corresponding clasps.

He was awarded the Royal Air Force Long Service and Good Conduct Medal as a Corporal followed by the clasp as Chief Technician. He was also awarded the Pingat Jasa Medal for his services in Borneo.

No additional detail is know about John Bailey except he died in about 1997.

The Story   The medals awarded to John Bailey were acquired from the London Medal Centre on a visit to the capital on 17th December 2022.

They were of interest because of the three clasped Campaign Service Medal, scarce RAF Long Service medal with clasp and boxes of issue confirming the various clasps.

He was also entitled to the Pingat Jasa Medal awarded for his service in Borneo.

Because of his rather common name and the recency of the medals no information could be found on Ancestry.
