Gunner Frederick James Hussey Royal Artillery
The Man Little detail is known about Frederick James Hussey, except that he enlisted into the Royal Field Artillery with service number 163798 seeing service overseas during World War I as a Gunner. He later joined the Special Constabulary and was awarded the 1914-18 British War Medal, Victory Medal and Special Constabulary Long Service Medal.
The Story The medal trio awarded to Frederick James Hussey were acquired from E-Bay on 20th September 2022 as part of a lot with another group to Harold J Healey. The dealer would not split them and to acquire the Healey group Frederick’s were also taken.
Having researched Ancestry.UK the medal rolls revealed his full name and an initial search came tantalisingly close to finding him. However, there were simply too many possibilities bearing in mind he could realistically have been born at any time between 1864 and 1903 at the extremes, to have served in World War I.
