Signalman David Murray  Royal Signals

The Man   David Murray junior was born in 1929 in Peterhead, Aberdeen, son of David senior, a postman, World War I Veteran and Air Training Corps Warrant Officer and Margaret nee Mitchell.  He was one of three children, James born in 1930 and George 1933.
 
When David reached the age of 18 he was called up for his National Service and joined the Royal Signals, as a Signalman with service number 19174911.  He saw service in Malaya and awarded the General Service Medal ’Malaya’ clasp.
 
In 1951, David aged 22 married Isabella Mutch Rhind in Peterhead and by 1954 they were living at 25 Loch Street with Isabella’s relatives, although David does not appear on the Electoral Register, an unknown Anthony Murray does however.
 
The electoral registers of 1968 and 1976 show David and Isabella living at 34 Prince Street with Isabella’s mother.
 
Isabella died in 1997 and David on 1st May 2002 aged 73, in Peterhead.
