The Man George Murray was born in 1933 in Peterhead, Abderdeen, son of David, a postman, World War I Veteran and Air Training Corps Warrant Officer and Margaret nee Mitchell. He was one of three children, David junior born in 1929 and James Mitchell 1930.
David joined HM Prison Service in Scotland during the 1950s or 60s and retired aged 55 in 1987 and awarded the Imperial Service Medal, appearing in the London Gazette of 27th October 1987.
George died in 2018 aged 85.
