Robert Powell  -  Imperial Service

PictureImperial Service Medal
The Man   The only detail known about Robert Powell are that he retired in 1998 as a Fitter Turner at the Ministry of Defence.

The Story   The Imperial Service Medal awarded to Robert Powell was acquired from E-Bay in May 2020 in a sorry state, and following an offer made that was accepted.  The medal appears to have been buried as it is badly pitted and was missing its suspender ring.  Following a clean, replacement ring and ribbon the medal has been restored, almost, to its former glory.  It was of interest purely because of its condition and a desire to ensure the recipient was not forgotten.  There was insufficient detail and too many Robert Powells on Ancestry.UK to be able to gather any information, although surprisingly, only one who was awarded the Imperial Service Medal from 1952 to 2000.  It would be interesting to know a little more about where the medal came from as Robert only retired relatively recently, and could well still be alive (May 2020).
