Gunner James Vaughan Royal Artillery
1914-18 British War Medal, Victory Medal
The Man No detail is known about James Vaughan except that he enlisted into the 115th Heavy Battery Royal Garrison Artillery with service number 16808 before World War 1. He was awarded the 1914 Star, 1914-18 British War Medal and Victory Medal, having entered the relevant theatre of war on 2nd October 1914. The 1914 Star is sadly missing and so this is a broken group.
The Story It has not been possible to establish much detail about James Vaughan, and there are number of people with the same name on ancestry.com. The medals have been used to fill in another group who are missing the 1914-18 British War Medal and Victory Medal until the originals can be re-located. They form part of Sydney Robert Bower's Group.
This group of medals is one I have only been able to find a minimal amount of detail on. They are in effect 'work in progress' as one day something additional may well be uncovered. Please feel free to contact me should you know of, or have any information on this man.
