The Research There has not been a great deal of research undertaken on Samuel Webster. The medals were acquired on 24th January 2007 from E-Bay. They were sold as an attributable group and checks on the London Gazette confirmed the award of the Emergency Reserve Decoration in the year stated together with the two additional clasps, all of which were engraved correctly. This helped to prove the provenance. A visit to The National Archives in London confirmed the award of the Coronation Medal thus confirming as far as is possible with an unnamed group that they did belong to Major S A Webster. His will was extracted during a visit to the Family Records Division in Holborn and confirmed his date of death, where he had lived and his wife and daughter’s details. At the time of writing there have been no further developments on research.
This group of medals are ones I have only been able to find a minimal amount of detail on. They are in effect 'work in progress' as one day something additional may well be uncovered. Please feel free to contact me should you know of, or have any information on this man.
